Position Summary:

Highly motivated and energetic person interested in developing system controls for the LaserSharp equipment. The Electrical Control's Engineer will ensure that all aspects of a project or system are considered, specifically the development and management of the process controls design used in industrial laser systems and material handling automation. He or she will work under the direction of the Electrical Control's Engineer Manager.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

v System controls design, analysis, and testing for high-performance laser processing equipment.

v Integrate system control software with motion control systems & devices.

v Development activities include:        v Programmable Logic Devices        v Real time hardware and software design        v Controls software testing

v Industrial electrical component integration

v Motion control systems

v Vision systems

v Geometric and other mathematical algorithms relating to motion control and materials processing

v Collaborate with R&D Software Development to enhance LasX's LightGuide Control Software and Proton laser controller.

v Work with the Engineering Manager and Project Engineers to establish each system's process controls requirements.

v Insure LaserSharp systems are fully operating and tested according to customer specifications prior to shipping.

v Support system installation and LaserSharp Field Service as required.

v Train Field Service on the overall system controls including calibrations, configurations, and settings.

v Work with engineers, customers, and others to improve existing or potential product features and developments.

v Other duties as requested by LasX Management.


Required Qualifications:

v Bachelor/Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field

v 0 - 3 years of experience in motion controls including: XY tables, linear motors, encoders, web control, robotics

v Practical knowledge of Programmable Logic Devices hardware and software development

v Practical knowledge of electrical/electronic components and diagnostic equipment

v Ability to work in a team environment

v Excellent verbal and technical writing skills

v Ability to represent LasX in a professional manner to customers and suppliers


Preferred Qualifications:

v Strong mathematical background including linear algebra


Physical Requirements:

v Extensive time working at a computer workstation

v Working in a manufacturing environment

v Travel as required (10%)
