Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated dynamic person eager to see the world working with cutting edge laser technology. This is an entry level field engineering position, the ideal candidate should be talented, well rounded in troubleshooting and problem solving. In addition, the candidate will possess clear communication skills, will be able to work well with others as well alone.

Is attentive to the customer's needs while providing excellent service. The candidate will be involved in the complete technical life cycle of automated laser machinery beginning from post-sale through assembly, testing, and installation and service of LaserSharp equipment.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports production assembly, testing, runoff, and installation of LaserSharp equipment.
  • Coordinates the Onsite installation and facilities training of customer's personnel on LaserSharp equipment.
  • Troubleshoot control system issues via web session and phone.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues on electrical, mechanical and PC related systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct Preventive Maintenance (PM) and service at the customer sites, including system calibration on production LaserSharp equipment relative to the customer's process.
  • Thoroughly document all LaserSharp equipment services and laser materials process through ServiceMax.
  • Promote the customer experience with exceptional customer service and effective in all forms of communication.
  • Responsible for managing travel requirements, including cost control, reservations and reports.
  • Instruct customers how to operate and maintain machine
  • Capable of analyzing customer issues that may arise, fully document, engineer a solution, proof out solution, present to the LasX team, and implement through to resolution
  • Ability to collect data, recommend and implement upgrades
  • Promote the selling of spare and replacement parts, plus service/maintenance contracts.
  • Meet or exceed performance requirements identified as department goals and key metrics.
  • Other duties as requested by LasX Management.


  • 4-year degree and 0 to 2 years of experience of equivalent.
  • Excellent oral, verbal, and technical writing skills.
  • Preferred bilingual and able to read, write and speak Spanish, German, or Chinese proficiently, but not required
  • Experience with diagnosing, repairing, and problem solving relative to field service.
  • Knowledge of use of measuring tools. DVM, Oscilloscope or other measuring tools.
  • Knowledge of PLC controls
  • Knowledge of industrial, mechanical components, fabrication techniques and mechanical drawings.
  • Knowledge of electrical circuits, automation controls, and ability to interpret electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows computers, embedded controllers, and related software used to control and operate machine tools.
  • Knowledge of industrial lasers and laser materials; processing of non-metallic materials a plus, but not required
  • Knowledge of materials handling equipment for roll-fed and sheet-fed materials a plus, but not required


Physical Requirements:

  • Flexible to travel up to 75%, occasionally in emergency situations and extended periods.
  • Working at a computer workstation or OIT.
  • Working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Standing and walking on a concrete floor.
  • Some lifting required.
